Constructed in copper and decorated with polychrome cloisonne enamel, the figure represents a stylized lion shown seated with the head turned slightly upward in an alert, expressive pose. The face is prominently modeled with large round eyes, a broad nose, and incised whiskers articulated in fine gilt-wire cloisons.

The body is covered in a rich cobalt-blue enamel ground, embellished with scrolling floral and foliate motifs rendered in green, white, pink, yellow, and red enamels, all carefully contained within gilt outlines. The mane is suggested by flowing green and blue enamel strands cascading down the chest, contrasting with the patterned body and haunches.

The base edge is finished with a narrow gilt border. Minor enamel wear, small losses, and surface irregularities are visible, consistent with age and handling. Cloisonne animal figures of this type were produced in China during the 20th century as decorative objects, drawing on traditional symbolic associations of the lion with protection, strength, and auspicious power.

Height 6.5 cm (2 1/2 in.), width 6 cm (2 3/8 in.).

Provenance: Private Collection. Acquired on the art market, mid-20th century.
