Blown from translucent amber-colored glass with areas of cloudiness and natural impurities, the snuff bottle is formed with a flattened baluster body rising from a splayed rectangular foot to a short waisted neck with a flat lip. The glass has been carved in low relief on each main face with a bamboo motif, depicting slender stalks with articulated nodes and narrow leaves, rendered with restrained linear incision and shallow modeling. The shoulders are fitted with a pair of applied scroll-form handles, symmetrically arranged, each carved with curling vegetal elements and fused to the body.

The surface exhibits areas of abrasion and minor wear consistent with use, with darker inclusions and subtle variations in tone visible throughout the glass. The bottle is surmounted by a domed stopper, likely a later replacement. The bamboo decoration corresponds to established Qing dynasty auspicious imagery, commonly associated with resilience and scholarly virtue, and is characteristic of glass snuff bottles produced at or influenced by imperial and court-related workshops during the period.

Height 7.6 cm (3 in.), width 6.5 cm (2 9/16 in.).

Provenance: Private Collection, Europe. Acquired on the art market, mid-20th century.
